Even the best agility ladder is not what you would call a complex piece of exercise kit but there is definitely a right way to approach this type of training.
- Lay it out - Determine ahead of time what type of workout you want and then lay out the agility ladder to match. Keep in mind that the rungs on most agility ladders will slide up and down the nylon strapping which allows you to narrow or widen the target areas to work different muscles and achieve different ends.
- Stretch - You should never engage in any sort of training without loosening up first. Spend a few minutes stretching before you dive into your workout. It will help you glean more from your efforts and avoid injury as well.
- Start simple - Don’t jump into the workout whole hog. Start slowly by simply jogging up and down the ladder a few times hitting all the spaces. Then go up and down once or twice sideways at a relaxed pace. Once your body is tuned to the spacing then get into your workout.
