Polaroid is back. The company known for its iconic photos has recently released the Cube, a tiny camera which measures just 1.4 inches² and weights 1.6 ounces. Aimed at casual users, this $99 camera features a 6-megapixel sensor with a 124-degree wide-angle lens and can shoot 1080p video at 30fps.
The Polaroid Cube is extremely simple to use and features only a single button which is used as the shutter as well as to power the device on/off. As you can imagine, due to the small size of the device it only takes microSD cards and can connect to computers via micro-USB.
The Cube's small size and cutesy design means that it's really well suited for children. It can also be used as an alternative to a GoPro camera in somewhat less extreme situations. The device is "splash-resistant" and can be used while wakeboarding, water skiing, or just hanging out by the pool. This camera is also shockproof, and additional GoPro-esque mounts and cases are available which help make this device a real competitor in the small video camera space.
