After disappearing for over two years, the Maybach brand is returning to the spotlight and no longer sailing, well driving, solo. Maybach traditionally has been a standalone luxury vehicle brand run by Mercedes-Benz, but after being MIA for two years, has joined the luxury ranks of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class for good. Mercedes-Benz discontinued the Maybach back in 2012 reportedly due to poor sales, so it came as a surprise with the announcement of its return.

However, the announcement brought even more to the table when Mercedes-Benz explained that it would be officially changing the naming policy for their vehicles, a deed that hasn’t been done in over 20 years. The new policy will be bringing in nameplates such as GLC, GLS, and SLC. SLC had been thought to be the nameplate for their new sports cars, but those will take the title of AMG GT. What exactly is to come of this, we’re not too sure. However, Mercedes-Benz has always delivered, so we’re not too worried.
