The official trailer for The Last Jedi has been released, which excited at least 17 million people (us included) in just a matter of hours. But aside from excitement, we are also left asking slash theorizing about the beginning, the theme, the ending, and everything in between.

So here’s a rundown of our questions we would like to share with you based on this trailer:

Who is Supreme Leader Snoke talking to?

At the beginning of the trailer, we hear Snoke say, “when I found you, I saw raw, untamed power. And beyond that, something truly special.” While it may be easy to say he’s talking to Kylo Ren as it was the latter who’s shown when Snoke started speaking, the appearance of Rey holding the lightsaber while Snake utters the words “something truly special” confuses (yet thrills) us all.

Theories claimed it is Rey Snoke is talking to because he wants her power, but that’s still a theory.

Why did Rey say, “then I was awake”?

When the trailer’s focus shifted to Rey, she said that something inside her has always been there… “then I was awake.”

Could it be that Rey is asleep and awoken just like Snoke? Could Rey be unrelated to Obi-Wan or Luke and she’s actually way more than what we think of her?

Why is Luke afraid of the strength?

In another scene, Luke said “I’ve seen this raw strength…before…it didn’t scare me enough then, but it does now.”

“Before” may probably be referring to Luke’s training with Kylo Ren but why is he scared this time around? Is he referring to The Emperor instead? Or is he referring to the Force ghosts?

Why did Kylo Ren not pull the trigger?

There’s a scene in the trailer that shows Kylo Ren in his TIE fighter cruising around and about to pull the trigger. Scenes then switch from Kylo to his mother, which seems to show who the trigger is meant for. But he seems conflicted.

Has he not fully committed to the Dark Side? Is there a battle between the Dark and the Light Side in him?

Who are the new creatures?

There are two new unnamed creatures we’ve glimpsed so far. One is Chewbacca’s companion and the other looks like a fox with pointed bunny ears and ice skin.

Do they belong to the Dark side? We’re pretty sure, Chewbacca’s friend doesn’t though. Or so we hope.

How did Finn vs. Phasma’s fight end?

There’s another scene showing Finn head-to-head against Phasma, but Luke says “This is not going to go the way you think.” To whom he’s talking to at that point though is unclear. Is this referencing to fight between Finn and Phasma? Is he talking to Rey or Kylo?

Is Rey joining the Dark Side?

Near the end of the trailer, Rey says, “I need someone to show me my place in all this.” Then shows Kylo Ren extending his hand, which we assume is intended for Rey.

Does this indicate her joining the Dark Side?

But with the conflicted Kylo Ren in the pulling the trigger scene, could it be the other way around? Are they teaming up on the Light Side?

There are so many amusing and confusing things this two-and-half trailer has shown us, including how Snoke actually looks like. But among all these, we can be sure that we’ll be the first people to line up in theaters on December 15.
