True 4k streaming has arrived in the Sony X1 4K Media Player. With the company’s release of 4K television sets this month — at a price of between $5,000 and $7,000 — you can now add on this affordable player that focuses on Sony films (and “other notable production houses”). The player comes equipped with these ten flicks (varying degrees of quality, but we’ll let you decide what’s good and what’s not):
Bad Teacher, Battle: Los Angeles, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Karate Kid (2010), Salt, Taxi Driver, That’s My Boy, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Other Guys and Total Recall (2012). This fall Sony will also unleash its fee-based video distribution service for the device. Think about it, kids. Four times clearer than high definition. How much better can picture quality get? We’re not sure, but it probably won’t be long before these companies top themselves again.
