Sony hasn’t given up on the wearable market yet. That’s why the once-great Japanese consumer electronics titan is releasing the SmartBand 2, a new version of its original fitness band which adds a much-requested heart rate monitor. Other features include keeping tabs on your biometric information and general well being as well as your activity. It can also pair with your smartphone and let you know when you receive an SMS/Call by using its built-in LED/vibration as well as track the quality of your sleep.

While there are numerous other fitness bands on the market right now, Sony hopes that you’ll look into the SmartBand 2 based on the strength of its companion app which does a great job of quantifying your data and showing it to you in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.

The SmartBand 2 will be hitting our shores sometime in December for $130 in black, white, indigo, and pink flavors. Look for it then.
