When you think of the astoundingly popular smartphone app, Snapchat, you probably don’t think of an innovative gadget. That’s about to change, though, now that Snapchat Spectacles have been announced. Building on what Google Glass started a couple of years ago, Snapchat Spectacles use two cameras in order to let you film a ten-second snap at the push of a button. Once you’ve taken your video footage, you can beam it over to your phone and send it up to the cloud (what else?).

Snapchat Spectacles are incredibly comfortable to wear and don’t look pretentious like Google Glass did. Will that be enough to avoid a negative backlash? We sure hope so. A ring of lights around the camera lets others know when you’re filming, so there’s no surprises or allegations of being a “Glasshole”
