Finally, we don't have to dread about taking with us the lengthy and heavy silencer just so we can save our ears from the deafening gunshots coming from our pistols. The SilencerCo Maxim 9 Pistol or the Maxim 9 is the world's first integrally suppressed 9mm handgun yet still holster-able.
SilencerCo uses its patented suppressor technology; hence, the Maxim 9 is rated safe for hearing using almost all types of 9mm ammunition.
Watch it in action here:
On top of that, its length may also be configured from 10.75 inches to 9.54 inches. The former weighs 2 lbs. 7 oz while latter's 2 oz lighter.
But whichever of these lengths you choose, you don't have to compromise your ears ever again. SilencerCo Maxim 9 Pistol combined proper length and silence in one lightweight package, complete with proprietary frame and slide.
It uses standard Glock magazines with rail attachments for accessories and RMR cutouts. There's also the optics plate in case you want to mount micro red dot in the future.
The Maxim 9 was first introduced in September 2015 in Miami through a Crockett and Tubbs theme target shooting party.
SilencerCo is located in West Valley City, Utah. It is one of the biggest suppressor manufacturing companies in the US, giving us a variety of silencers for shotguns, pistols, rifles, and rimfires.
Based on an article, the company is planning to create more models like the Maxim 9 as its CEO stated, "the Maxim 9 is just the beginning as we intend to make more integrally suppressed platforms so that all types of firearms can be more compact and quiet out of the box."
Does that mean we'll see silenced shotguns and rifles soon?
Probably, but let's go back to the Maxim 9. It currently sells for $1500 excluding the $200 you have to pay to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for the tax stamp. And since it has a suppressor in it you may only purchase this from authorized sellers of Title II NFA-restricted items.
