The Porsche 918 Spyder is probably the most expensive hybrid car ever created, but when you hear what it can do you won’t question it. It boasts a gasoline-electric hybrid system that can be taken from Electric to Hybrid to Race, Sport, and Hot Lap modes depending on what you’re in the mood for, in an instant. The front motor puts out 129hp while the back does 156 for a combined total of 285hp along with 431 lb-ft of torque.
These numbers allow the 918 Spyder to go 0-62 in just 6.2 seconds while using the all-electric mode. Lay down harder on the throttle and you can take the Spyder beyond its 93 mph speed to dizzying heights thanks to the V8 that automatically cranks in as if you’re Marty McFly flashing from one point in time to another. The only drawback aside from the hefty price tag is that you have to make a $200,000 deposit just to secure one. Production began last fall. Shipping has rolled out throughout the year. While the car is almost sold out, you can still get one if you act fast.
