The new Roku Streaming Media Stick has been announced, and it looks like Google Chromecast better watch its back. While the Stick is about $15 more expensive, it also brings with it A richer ecosystem than what Android has produced at this point in the game. That’s not to say that Google won’t catch up; it just means that if you want 1200 channels of content with your HDMI media plug-in, you’ll need to go the Roku route.
Unlike past media sticks from Roku, this one will play on your television whether you have Roku-readiness or not. Basically any television with an HDMI port will be able to play this latest incarnation from day one. It’s also about $35 cheaper than its previous version.
