Emperor Jobs and Darth iPhone will not be pleased when they hear that Motorola has me thinking about giving up their evil ways for a piece of the Rebel Alliance. I’m talking, of course, about those nifty plans to actually model the Motorola Droid 2 after, well, a droid. The R2-D2 edition is confirmed, and the official web portal is up and running. We’ve heard that the hardware will resemble everyone’s favorite little robot from the two Star Wars trilogies. (Two…God, it hurt to write that.) It will also feature exclusive Star Wars content, whatever that means.

If R2-D2 isn’t your thing, however, no need for worry. The Motorola Droid 2 will also be available in what can only be described as a “normal person” edition, and will feature a 3G Wireless hot-spot, 3.7″ touch screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.2, Flash Player 10.1, DLNA media sharing, 8 gigs of internal storage, an 8-gig microSD card, and a 5-megapixel camera with DVD quality video.

To geek or not to geek? What’s it going to be? Either way, Motorola’s got you covered.
