Remember IBM ThinkPad, the laptop with the bright red TrackPoint nub somewhere among the keys on the keyboard? Now you can get the same retro design, particularly that of the ThinkPad T470, but infused with modern technology through Lenovo ThinkPad Anniversary Edition. (Lenovo bought IBM, FYI.)
In other words, you still get the rubberized palm rests, the keyboard with the blue Enter key, the colorful ThinkPad logo, and the status lights. The innards, however, are upped by several notches—7th generation core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 SSD storage, and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics chip—making it more powerful than other ThinkPad laptops.
And that’s not all.
The modern ThinkPad also includes modern ports for USB-C Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, ethernet, and SD card. And to cap its modernity, the new ThinkPad includes a fingerprint sensor and runs Windows 10.
The new ThinkPad is available for $1900 and is produced in limited quantities. It may be a bit pricey for some, but given the reputation of T470, we know it’s worth the price.
