Elon Musk might be considered a visionary, but he’s not the only one. Not one to be left behind by other tech billionaires, Jeff Bezos has created his own company to battle it out with Musk’s Space X for control of outer space. The rocket which he hopes will eventually ferry astronauts for his Blue Origin venture is called the New Glenn Rocket — a space-faring vessel that’s appropriately named after the astronaut, John Glenn.
Powered by liquid oxygen and liquid methane, seven of the engines will power the reusable first stage, while the second stage will use a single BE-4. Much like Space X, the company has decided to takeoff from Cape Canaveral, with the first stage rising high above the ground before separating to its second stage module. That second stage will, you guessed it, continue to deliver the payload into orbit while the first stage descends gracefully to the ground before precision landing on a ship-mounted landing pad.
All in all, it’s pretty impressive tech. Find out more via the link below.
