Apple doesn’t like to be perceived as second-best. Even worse, the company hates when they’re perceived as third-best. That’s why it should come of no surprise to anyone that everyone’s favorite Cupertino-based tech giant has released the Apple HomePod Speaker in order to directly take on Amazon’s Echo and Google’s Home.
Standing just 7 inches tall, this speaker is a sight to behold. 3D mesh-wrapped and with a whole lot of high technology built into its cylindrical frame, it features an array of seven tweeters, precision acoustic horns, and four-inch upward-facing subwoofers. Furthermore, acting as the device’s brain is an Apple A8 chip — a processor that’s capable of automatically detecting your home’s physical space and creating a unique profile that’s completely tailored to that environment. The combination of all the aforementioned features allows you to enjoy sound — whether music or podcasts — in a way that you’ve never been able to before.
Of course, the device also features Siri. In fact, thanks to its six microphones, you’ll have no difficulty getting Siri to play your Apple Music playlists or set a location-based reminder with nothing more than your voice.
