The Google Glass revolution isn’t over. While Google may have ditched the idea of consumer-facing smart glasses all together, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a whole lot of “glassholes” out there. In order to satisfy the demand for head-mounted video recording and computing, a company called Alto Tech has decided to step in and fill in the Google Glass-shaped void with their very own Cool Glass smart shades.
Looking nearly identical to Google Glass, Cool Glass can livestream, take still pictures, or record video from its embedded 8-megapixel camera, make calls, read messages, provide navigation functions, and even “do” the whole augmented reality thing. Not convinced? Maybe you’ll be swayed over the by the fact that it costs a fraction of what Google Glass used to cost and will be releasing to the public later on this summer at just $500.
