Despite the fact that Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day can be whiny, overly political, and downright wrong-headed at times, he’s an undeniable musical talent, and when you mix him with soothing pop songstress Norah Jones, you’ve got a must-have album for the holidays. Of course, that’s not to say that Foreverly is a holiday album. Far from it. It’s actually a reimagining of some classic songs from the Everly Brothers, a classic duet act popular in the Sixties.

The Everly Bros were awesome in their own right, and there is something about this collaboration that just works. Jones has the vocal chops to take a seat next to the classic male duo, and we’re particularly pleased that they’ve chosen some songs you may not have heard. (No Cathy’s Clown, in other words. While that’s a bummer, why retread the familiar when you can breathe new life into some forgotten tunes?)
