Think Fitness Trackers are over? Think again. Fitbit is doubling down on its product offerings by releasing the new Fitbit Alta HR Fitness Tracker, a small stylish device that holds the title of “world’s slimmest wrist-based heart tracker”. To put things in perspective regarding just how small this device is, it’s important to note that Fitbit actually has to fund the development of a one-of-a-kind chip in order to pack in all the functionality into such a teeny form factor. Impressive, ain’t it?
But what exactly does it do, you ask? Well, in addition to keeping tabs on your heart rate, calories burned, steps, and distance, it also uses data from the accelerometer and your heart rate variability to track how long you spend in the various stages of sleep. Not content with only displaying information, however, the programmers behind its companion app actually put in a “sleep coach mode” which gives you feedback and tips on how to maximize your time in bed.
