With iOS 8 Apple released HomeKit, an open standard which will allow manufacturers of connected objects to use Siri to control their smart home devices. One of the first products to take advantage of the HomeKit API is Elgato’s Eve, which promises users the ability to find out more about their home’s air quality, temperature, humidity, air pressure, and energy consumption amongst other things.
The team that designed the Eve family of products kept home integration in mind. This extends to the design of the products itself which feature the use of discreet white plastics and gentle curves. Curious about how Eve works? It’s all about Bluetooth 4.0 technology which draws very little power and is compatible with a large array of other smart devices. The low power usage means that Eve’s batteries are extra long-lasting and you won’t ever have to fiddle around with power cords. Eve can be purchased directly through Elgato’s website as well as on apple.com and other leading online retailers.
