2015 may be the year of the internet of things but it’s also shaping up to be the year of electric skateboards. One of the new skateboards we’ve seen at CES 2015 is the Boosted Boards’ Dual+ electric skateboard. At first glance, it looks like just a regular skateboard with a comfortable bamboo deck and a set of grippy 80A durometer wheels but this skateboard is also powered by a single 1,000W motor.
Users can expect to attain speeds of upwards of 25MPH and the ability to handle a 25 percent incline without much difficulty. Too fast? The Dual+ actually includes adjustable speed settings letting you set a max speed limit. As you’d expect, setting a lower max speed limit will improve the Dual+’s range and battery life. Another cool feature of the Dual+ is its regenerative brakes which actually serve to feed energy back into the battery.
The average range is about 7 miles and the skateboard itself weighs around 15 pounds. There’s also an optional 120W fast charger which you can take with you on the road in order to recharge the battery.
