If you are an undisputed audiophilia and looking to invest in your next wired headphones, then next up on our review we have another serious contender in the shape of the Bose Quiet Comfort. Of course, Bose has long been associated with quality premium canceling headphones, and a transatlantic trip in Business Class wouldn’t be complete without several sightings of these on the ears of passengers up front! They really are the perfect choice for frequent travelers. They deliver a deep and powerful sound but are lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day long. You can also easily control your music and your calls on Apple devices via the inline microphone and remote control. Distinctively designed in either Black or White the Quiet Comfort 25 has been designed to look, feel and perform better. Everything you need is included with your purchase with an airline adapter, travel carrying case and a AAA battery all coming as part of your start-up kit.
The ear cushions are exceptionally comfortable, cushiony and pillow-like but they also deliver a good, fine-tuned fit. Better still, they pivot and fold flat within the compact case for when you are traveling. Clear vocals, clean and crisp bass and percussion and precise guitar sounds. Really what’s not to love about these Bose Quiet Comfort 25’s and actually the price isn’t too bad either.
These Master & Dynamic headphones are surely a thing of beauty. As wired headphones go, these are nothing short of spectacular, designed to fit over the ear and super elegant with a touch of retro styling about them but with performance features that are anything but vintage. In a series of stylish and contemporary colored leathers with contrasting metal detailing they are exquisite. They’ve been designed to endure decades of use so while they are of course an investment, they are very much wired for both sound and longevity. They’re forged from an Aluminum body and feature custom Neodymium drivers. There’s also a metal mute/unmute button which is easily accessible. A great option when you are on the plane for example and the drinks service comes around!
They are exceptionally comfortable to wear with genuine lambskin ear pads that are breathable and contain memory foam plus can be easily removed for cleaning. The leather itself, which is in a variety of attractive colors, is of heavy grain cowhide so its durable. The Master & Dynamic MH40B1’s deliver a rich and warm sound for a technically superior, noise isolating experience. With dual audio jacks for shared listening an omnidirectional microphone, they also happen to be fully compatible with all iPhones and iPads. Everything you need is included in the box to start your audio sensory journey. All you need to do is choose your music style and create that playlist. If you are looking for a more inexpensive bit of kit, then Edifier H840 could be a good choice for you. There are minimal bells and whistles, but they’re a great plug and play option, and they do look good, especially given the exceptional price point. They’re relatively comfortable too, but they don’t have any provision for taking calls, no Bluetooth or integrated Microphone either. The ear cups do however easily and conveniently fold for travel, and overall the sound is decent and pretty well balanced but by no means the best on this review today.
For serious lovers of music who want to appreciate all the notes, these might not be the best choice, but for a general lover of music who wants to look stylish but have a good sound quality at a budget price then these do the trick and are most definitely a step above the cheaper in bud alternatives. Overall we would say that these are a solidly built and extremely dependable too with a lightweight body and soft leather earmuffs combined with a reinforced but flexible steel headband. A great budget choice.

They were primarily designed for studio tracking and mixing but are just as good at taking you from the studio to the road and have a fairly decent price tag too. Beats headphones sure do look the business, but the real question on everyone’s lips is if they are all style and no substance or whether they really do live up to that legacy and association with none other than Dr. Dre. We’re expecting a thumping bass! So the great news is that they don’t disappoint and in fact deliver a masterfully tuned sound with fine and clear acoustics that provide both balance and breadth. So far, so good!
They’ve been designed and constructed to last and are tough yes, but also lightweight and comfortable t wear with a reinforced, adjustable frame that features vertical sliders for a customized fit. Streamlined design and sensational sound make these a worthy contender for Best Wired Headphones.
These Skullcandy Crushers are certainly impressive to look at with their over-sized, over-ear design. What really sets them apart though is the patent-pending Sensation 55 Driver that is Skullcandy’s powerful yet realistic bass experience. It delivers the kind of bass that you can feel not just hear. The driver providing this patent-pending technology is a REX40 and has been designed by Skullcandy’s world-renowned team of engineers to be responsive, smooth and to minimize unwanted distortion. Combine that with a built-in amplifier, and you get a next level audio experience. The headphones are powered by a premium battery that is discreetly hidden in the ear cup. Sennheiser is renowned for their quality, high end, and often expensive headphones so luckily with the release of their HD201, they’ve brought out a pair with a more accessible price point as an alternative to the professional studio range. These make an excellent entry level over the ear, wired pair of headphones that deliver a crisp, rich base and are highly responsive. They’re lightweight in construction and have hypoallergenic ear-pads, so they are comfortable enough to withstand prolong wearer sessions. The dynamic audio reproduction with very faithful with that powerful bass being particularly well suited to lovers of dance and electronic music. They also happen to look pretty stylish too with that smooth silver design and sleek black leatherette ear pads. A great addition to the Sennheiser line-up.
We’re right at the budget end of the marker here with these Koss wired headphones at a price that you really can’t argue with. As such, they regularly make Amazon’s choice, and they’ve firmly made it onto our list today as we appreciate that not everyone is in the game for spending over $200 on their personal audio experience. These would make a great entry pair of headphones, being durable, flexible but still delivering plenty of high fidelity for deep bass and treble clarity. The larger over ear leatherette ear cushions are comfortable and provide maximum sound isolation. A perfect and inexpensive option with that flexible sling headband allowing for single-sided listening, you know, deejay style!
We’re going out on a big bag with these Bowers and Wilkins 97 wired over-ear headphones that are pretty sensational both to look at and to use. There has been a lot of technological thought, and advanced engineering put into these P7’s, and they work on a driver basis like the unit found in a hi-fi speaker. It’s a less is more approach enabling the driver to be more precise and to deliver a controlled movement. The ear-pads themselves are also advanced with lots of thought put into the end user experience. They have dual cavity cushioning so that they better mold to the contours of the head and deliver consistent air flow which in turn optimizes the sound quality. What you get is a totally immersive sound experience that sets a new standard in portable audio quality.
Bowers & Wilkins have been making exceptional speakers since 1966, and they can be found in all the world’s best professional studios, including Abbey Road so while we appreciate that these have a hefty price tag, they truly are exceptional. The fold up and go design also means that they are a highly portable choice and can be securely stored in their accompanying quilted case for when they are in transit and not over your ears. If you have the cash to splash, then these are well worth the investment.
