Technology is a wonderful thing. Except when it isn’t. Take RFID technology for example. First developed during WWII to help distinguish friendly aircraft from enemy aircraft the technology is now being used by thieves to lift information from the computer chip embedded in your credit and debit cards. You could be standing on the street trying to hail a taxi and some weasel nearby with an RFID card reader they bought on eBay for 50 bucks can quietly lift enough information from your card to party on your dime. Might sound like fantasy but it’s a stone cold fact. Your protection against such high tech theft? The RFID wallet. Below are the best RFID wallets on the market today.
The Best RFID Wallet
ROCO has been at or near the top of the RFID blocker and EDC wallet heaps for several years now and there are good reasons for their success. Their contemporary men’s wallets embody sleek, lightweight design, are fashioned from high quality materials, disappear into any pocket and are built to last. Their Minimalist RFID Blocking wallet was built to replace your bulging bifold and to protect you from RFID snooping in a way the old wallet simply can’t.
The concept is ultra-simple: there are 2 plates of aircraft grade aluminum with an attractive anodized finish that form the RFID blocking sandwich. There’s room for up to 20 cards between those plates and cash on the outside. And everything is held together by a recently redesigned silicone strap that always returns to form. The texture of the strap works beautifully against the anodized aluminum to provide the wallet a sophisticated aura that’s hard to beat. And the cherry on the cake here is the surprisingly affordable price point. The ROCO Minimalist is much more than a money clip. It’s an indication of your good taste and intelligence. It’s also our Best Choice. Make sure you also check our guide to the best front pocket wallets.

If you like your EDC to have a more traditional aura you’ll love the Vaultskin Chelsea Leather RFID Wallet. Not only is it fashioned from the highest grade Italian leather, not only is it sleek and refined and elegant and all those other 10 dollar adjectives and not only is it compact and efficient, but it also protects your valuable information from RFID sniffers. This is the kind of EDC item that will help a lot of Old Schoolers make the transition to the 21st century.
It’s hard to be elegant and tough at the same time but the Chelsea manages to pull it off. It has classic overtones but it’s no bigger than one of today’s minimalist EDC wallets. It’s fashioned from traditional materials but embedded inside is special RFID blocking insulation that acknowledges it’s not 1960 anymore. There’s a “Smart Strap” that sounds more complicated than it is and which allows you to slide your cards out in a hassle free manner. And the whole thing is less than a half inch thick when loaded. Toss in a very attractive price and you have our Best Value.

When most people think of the best RFID wallets they tend to envision minimalist jobs like the ROCO that heads up our list. And that’s understandable. The great thing about RFID blocker tech, however, is that it’s pretty easy to employ. This means wallet makers can simple slip a couple of lightweight aluminum plates or metallic mesh into their existing designs and keep traditionalists happy.
Such is the case with the Bryker Hyde RFID Wallet for Men. It sports a traditional bifold design that will be familiar to anyone. But tucked away inside are a pair of ultra-thin plates composed of composite metals that reflect RFID signals and keep your information your information. From the outside you’d never know this is a scan proof wallet. But that’s part of the joy of it. You get safety, security and that traditional look you love so much all in one package. The Bryker Hyde RFID Wallet is a great gift idea for those who like to stay in touch with the times but who aren’t ready to leave tradition in the rearview. This is the second Vaultskin RFID card holder wallet on our list. And like its cousin the Chelsea the Vaultskin Manhattan is crafted from high quality leather with an attractive full-grain finish and robust stitching throughout. Unlike the Chelsea however, the Manhattan isn’t trying to adapt minimalist EDC wallet concepts to the traditional leather wallet. Instead, it is a traditional leather bifold wallet that, like the Bryker Hyde just profiled above, adds a few contemporary touches and otherwise leaves well enough alone.
This is the kind of wallet you’d expect an executive or high powered lawyer to pull out of their pocket when it came time to pay the check at the Capitol Grille on Newbury Street in Boston or the 21 Club on West 52nd in New York. It provides complete coverage against RFID sniffers, holds up to 9 cards (8 in the RFID protected inner sleeve) as well as enough cash to finance your night out if you want to give the plastic a rest. It’s also incredibly light and, because of the way it’s designed, there is little danger of it turning into a wallet-burger in your back pocket.

You could be forgiven for thinking the Shell-D RFID Blocking Credit Card Protector was really more of a canister than a wallet. It is. But maybe that fact means that “wallet” has been too narrowly defined for too long. This is literally a shell that’s fashioned from aircraft grade aluminum and ABS plastic. The exterior is where you’ll find the ABS while the aluminum resides inside protecting your cards from RFID snooping.
It’s our belief (though we can’t prove it) that the ABS plastic was used to keep the weight (and probably the price) down. But in all honesty we would have preferred if they had dispensed with the plastic and just fashioned the whole thing from that high grade aluminum. It wouldn’t have been that much heavier or expensive and you would have a leading edge piece of EDC kit that would last a lifetime. Instead, you have a cheap and effective way to protect your cards but you have to constantly worry what might happen if you drop it. It’s still a decent and very affordable way to ward off high tech thieves, but it could be so much more than that. Dango is a style and security leader in the field of RFID wallets. Their approach is anything but traditional and the results are pretty spectacular. This particular tactical secure wallet is crafted from 6061 CNC’d aircraft grade aluminum and high grade genuine leather and mil-spec bolts (“mil-spec” meaning they meet military specifications). Somehow the designers at Dango make these divergent materials work together in a seamless harmony of textures that’s reminiscent of what you might see inside a great sports car.
Besides the design and the fact that the high grade aluminum creates an effective scan blocker the thing that generates the most interest here is the integrated high carbon steel multitool. Dango T01 Tactical EDC Wallet features everything from a saw blade to a cutting blade to a hex-head wrench, a nail remover, ruler and more. And best of all they all do a reasonably good job. The T01 is held together by way of a robust and durable silicone band and you get your choice of a jet black anodized or raw, uncoated aluminum finish. Whichever one you choose you’re getting a state-of-the-art tactical wallet that also happens to be a scan proof wallet. You’re going to pay a little more but in our opinion it’s worth every penny.

The Alpine Swiss Men’s Leather Wallet is beautifully hand-crafted from rich, supple Italian leather. It feels great to the touch and looks great when you pull it out of your pocket. It’s a classic trifold design with subtle RFID protection integrated into the outer shell that deflects 13.56 MHz and 125 KHz snooping. To look at it you’d never know it was anything but a standard men’s leather wallet but anyone who tries to lift your credit card information will quickly learn it’s much more than that.
It’s a little over half an inch thick when all 12 credit card slots are occupied. There’s a lined bill sleeve for your cash as well as 3 all-purpose slots to hold miscellaneous cards, receipts and the like. The flip out section also has an ID window so you can show your ID if necessary without opening the wallet all the way. It’s a great looking, RFID safe, trifold wallet that any professional man on your gift list is going to love.

The Minimalist RFID Blocking Wallet from Ranger is the Fort Knox of EDC wallets. This thing was not designed so much as it was engineered. And your credit cards are better off for it. Some might say the final product lacks a certain refinement, but we would disagree pretty strongly with that assessment. Because what the Ranger lacks in traditional elegance it more than makes up for with its visually satisfying melange of textures and subtle color shifts.
When you look at the Ranger RFID Blocking Wallet you can’t help but be impressed by its unabashed embrace of solidity. There can be little doubt that, should you ever find yourself in a survival situation where you had to break a window to escape, this secure wallet would be more than up to the task. And that’s not the only task it’s up to either. Because nestled into its own dedicated slot on the back of the wallet is a 12 function multitool, which also bolsters the ability of the wallet to deflect intrusive RFID signals.

If you like the idea of a wallet fashioned from aircraft grade aluminum that’s cool to the touch and sleek as your smartphone you owe it to yourself to give The Ridge RFID Blocking Wallet a good long look. The Ridge is fashioned from 2 plates of 6061-T6 aluminum that won’t allow an RFID signal anywhere near your credit or debit cards. Those are screwed into a pair of inner plastic plates that actually come in contact with your cards.
The RFID shield plates swing open with heavy elasticized bands on 3 sides that prevent your cards slipping out. Ridge claims you can fit up to a dozen cards in this wallet but we wouldn’t suggest packing more that 6 or 7 inside. After that it’s going to be a bit tricky to separate them and retrieve the one you want. On the back side is a durable, handsome money clip with plenty of tension that won’t let go of your cash, although that cash will need to be double folded. The bottom line is we love the way the Ridge looks and feels and it will doubtless protect your cards from electronic snooping. Just don’t expect it to carry as much as your old bifold.
2 6061-T6 aluminum plates.
Anodized gunmetal grey finish.
Holds up to 12 cards.
Integrated money clip on back.
Full RFID blocking.

The Ekstar Parliament is another compact leather wallet that does a pretty good job walking the line between today’s minimalist designs and yesterday’s bloated bifolds. The whole thing folds up to just a bit larger than the average credit card, the top flips open to reveal a couple of card sleeves, while the larger RFID blocker compartment remains accessible only from the top.
That main compartment is lined with high grade aluminum and is wrapped in a wide elasticized band that holds your cash. There’s room for up to 6 cards in the RFID card holder compartment. Just remember that any cards you store outside this protected environment are going to be susceptible to scanners. All in all this is a very attractive and compact RFID wallet that embodies both traditional and contemporary touches.
100% impervious to RFID scans.
Integrated card slider system.
0.5 inch elasticized band to hold cash.
Old World materials meet New World design.
Holds up to 6 cards plus cash.
The final item on our best RFID wallets list is Bellroy classic bifold leather wallet. The Hide & Seek of the name refers first to the fact that it’s an RFID scan blocker. And second, to the fact that the cash sleeve has a further inner sleeve with a discrete flap that makes it look as though you’re not carrying any cash. So the Hide & Seek protects you from both high tech and low tech robbery.
The RFID protection is built into the outer shell of the wallet, which means you need to have it closed in order for it to block scanners. There’s room for up to a dozen credit cards, but more than 6 and you’re going to start suffering wallet bloat. It’s crafted from water resistant polyester, faced with high grade leather and is well-crafted inside and out.
Holds up to 12 cards plus cash.
Available in Java, Carmel or Black.
Full RFID protection.
Discrete bill hiding sleeve.
