Redwood Reserves CBD cigarettes
Wild Hemp Hempettes
Qiwi Hemp Cigarettes
Producers of hemp cigarettes have found a willing market, because, well, smokers love to smoke. But not everyone wants to get high off marijuana or struggle with the wicked addiction of tobacco. Hemp cigarettes can serve as a tobacco alternative for those looking to quit, but the hemp’s chemical makeup can also be a benefit.
Here are the top brands we discovered thanks to internet research and speaking with industry insiders. We also read customer reviews (and smoking one or two ourselves).

Why Are Smokers Abandoning Tobacco for Hemp?
Processed tobacco cigarettes are full of nasty additives, have been shown to cause cancer, and are cruelly addictive. Nonetheless, smokers crave that instant rush. That’s why hemp cigarettes are an alternative.
To be classified as hemp, this form of cannabis sativa must have less than 0.3% THC. Smoking it, is nowhere near intoxicating, but it does cause a mellow, relaxing sensation that’s somewhat euphoric. The health consequences of inhaling hemp smoke are definitely not neutral, but if you’re going to light something on fire and shove it in your mouth, you could do worse—especially compared to the widely publicized dangers of vaping.
While the addictive qualities of hemp appear to be nominal, the FDA remains firm about the potential dangers, until further research is conducted. The National Institute on Drug Abuse is also bullish on the dangers of smoking marijuana, while acknowledging that some studies indicate cannabis can potentially have “anti-tumor effects.”
People smoke hemp cigarettes for the same properties as the consumers of CBD tinctures or gummies. But finding them is not a slam dunk. Cannabis laws are different state to state, which makes it basically impossible for large nationwide retailers to sell hemp cigarettes. Many companies sell hemp cigarettes online. If you live in a state with medical and/or recreational marijuana programs, local dispensaries often carry them, too.
Keep in mind that hemp cigarettes are machine-rolled and sold with filters, much like a tobacco cigarette, and cost $12–$15 per 20 pack. They’re typically a combination of hemp leaf and flower. Whereas hemp pre-roll, cone-shaped joints are only made with premium-quality hemp flower, which has much higher concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes. These are filter-less and ago for about $40 per 20 pack. Look for transparent lab reports that ensure content and quality.
One Florida-based hemp cigarette company we spoke to claims to be negotiating a “60,000-unit deal with Circle K.” Like with everything else CBD, this market is evolving quickly.
