Let’s forget for a moment what happened to the Note 7, and focus on what the latest Note installment can offer us.

For starters, the S Pen learned some new tricks. You are now allowed to take up to 100 pages of notes in the Screen Off Memo mode by pulling out the S Pen while the screen is off. You can also handwrite a text or image with it then send it to someone in a message. Lastly, you can use the S Pen to highlight texts and translate them instantly into one of the 71 languages included.

But the Note 8 is not only about the S Pen. It has better camera features too. It has dual 12 MP cameras—one for regular and wide angle photos; the other for telephoto. Both lenses offer optical image stabilization.

The entire phone is IP68 water- and dust-resistant. We sure do hope it’s explosion-resistant too.
