Remember the MacBook? The polycarbonate plastic-shelled device was many a millennials’ entry-point into the world of Mac computing. Sometime in late 2011, Apple decided to pull the plug on the iconic laptop. They replaced it with the thinner MacBook Air. Now, after nearly 4 years of absence, Apple has decided to bring back the MacBook line, in style.
Available in 3 different colors (Silver, Space Grey, and Gold), we haven’t seen such a colorful laptop from Apple in what feels like forever. Apple claims that the new MacBook is its lightest and most compact ever and with a retina screen that measures just 12-inches and a body that weighs only 2lbs, it’s easy to see why that is. One of the greatest things about the new laptop is that unlike its competition, it hasn’t compromised on the keyboard and trackpad experience in order to be smaller and thinner than ever. In fact, Apple is actually claiming that the trackpad and keyboard are more responsive than its larger siblings. That’s quite a feat when you consider that Apple is widely considered to include the best trackpad in the market with their computers!
Powering the new (base) MacBook is a 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor (Turbo Boost up to 2.4GHz). One of the benefits of going with the new Intel Core M processor is the fact that the laptop doesn’t actually need to use a fan in order to keep it cool. The MacBook also features 8GB LPDDR3 RAM clocked at 1600MHz and a 256GB SSD. The real killer feature here is its all-day 9 hour battery. Welcome back, MacBook!
