Remember Withings? The French hardware manufacturer created two highly successful analog smartwatches earlier this year that proved to the world that ‘smarter’ doesn’t always equal digital. While their initial two-pronged approach aimed at the high and low-end smartwatch markets, their new Activité Steel offering will be priced right down the middle at $170.
As you’d expect with a middle of the road device, the Steel isn’t quite as luxurious as its higher priced Activité —it’s featuring silicone bands instead of leather — but it certainly is a heck of a lot classier than the almost childish Activité Pop thanks in part to its stainless steel housing and chrome bands.
As far as its smartwatch capabilities go, not a whole lot has changed. Steel will be able to keep track of your fitness data thanks to its Health Mate companion app and display it all in several easy-to-understand charts on your smartphone. The Activité Steel is only available in black and can be pre-ordered now.
