Terrafugia TF-X

By Aric Mitchell on May 11, 2013

It’s been a couple of years since we’ve brought you an update on this flying car technology, but now’s as good a time as any, and there are a few new items of note with Terrafugia’s TF-X. For one, there are two models now instead of the one. Last time we brought it to you it was just The Transition. Now you can add TF-X, an upgrade, to the list. It’s also capable of speeds about 100 miles faster than its predecessor.

A few more gap fill-ins: it should take the newbie about five hours to learn how to drive/fly it. It has an auto take-off and auto-land function and a way of determining responsiveness to quickly assess emergency situations. (Would hate to test that feature.) Best of all, the hybrid technology of electric and gas power brings you maximum fuel efficiency for getting from points A to B. The only problem we can foresee is that the money you save on fuel, you’ll probably spend 1 million-fold on the final cost of the car. But to be fair, a price hasn’t been announced yet. We can’t see how the initial rounds would be anything less than a gut-punch, though.
