The Stress Vest fits like a standard kevlar vest and is linked to a “Surestrike” laser insert that fits into any 9mm, .40, or .45 pistol. Yes, actual guns. The weapon’s firing pin triggers the insert to emit a laser pulse, and if the laser hits the vest the wearer gets a jolt.
The nature of the jolt is adjustable. It can be a little vibration for the wimps, or a full-on localized stun if you’re serious. They call it the “pain penalty” and the idea is that your weapons training is more realistic and effective if it’s actually going to hurt when you get hit. For really serious training, there’s even an “injured officer mode”, which means that you get continuous pain penalties at random intervals. Which would mean you really don’t want to get hit.
It’s important to note, though, that the company only takes orders from law enforcement, military, and corrections customers, so think again if you were looking forward to getting stunned in the gut at your next paintball party.
