We believe it’s a pretty safe bet to say Samuel Adams Utopias brew is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before, and that includes previous incarnations of the same label. What has always set the Utopias banner apart from other lagers is the lack of carbonation and high ABV content. Well, the 2012 edition from the folks at Samuel Adams remembers these great qualities and makes a few tweaks for a very Happy New Year.
First off, ABV has moved up from 24% (in 2002) to 29% in the latest edition. Secondly, the complexity has been enhanced with a unique combination of berries, caramel, cocoa, honey, molasses, plums, raisins, and vanilla. All this adds up to a black ruby color that holds its own with the heaviest brews on the market.
