Who knows headphones better than one of music’s greatest producers, Quincy Jones? The man behind “Thriller” and “We Are the World,” certainly has an ear for sound, and now it seems, for a low low price of course, he wants to share that ear with you. Not sure how much say Jones actually had in the development of these iPhone compatible Harman AKG’s, but if it’s even slightly better than my Nike on-the-go headphones, it’ll probably bring the quality.
With the AKG 701, you get a comfortable, over-the-ear experience of velvet cushioning and high linear frequency. If $479 is too steep for your budget, you may consider scaling down a bit and enjoying the Q460 instead, which is being described as a mini-headphone as opposed to its Q350 earbud counterpart. The Q460 will run you $229, so get ready to dole out the dollars. Keeping in mind that those aforementioned Nikes were $30 and fantastic, my hearing is a little curious as to what the difference will be. Part of the proceeds will go to the Quincy Jones Musiq Consortium for furthering music education among American children. So even if these don’t blow your doors off, you’re still doing the world a favor by picking up your pair. That should help you sleep easy!
