Nike has a lot more competition on the athletic shoe market than they did 25 or 30 years ago. We’ll acknowledge that much. But with the Nike Flyknit Trainer+ Unisex Running Shoe, the may once again be pulling away from the pack. What we really like about this shoe – other than not needing to worry about whether you are “gender correct” – is the targeted support of the upper. Rather than submit to confining overlays, the mesh piece moves with the foot and adjusts based on your movements rather than making you play along with it.
One potential caveat for the ladies: while the shoe is unisex, it is done up in men’s sizes. So if you’re a size 9 in women’s, then you’ll want a 7.5 in men’s, 10 in women’s / 8.5 in men’s, etc. Colors available are violet, red, green, royal blue, orange and black-and-white.
