Ray-Ban Legends Collection

Ray-Ban Legends Collection

Ray-Ban needs no introduction here. But what you probably didn’t know is that 2012 is the brand’s 75th anniversary. To celebrate, they’ve released their “Legends Collection.”

One of the truly unique features in this collection are the vintage-inspired colored lenses that “were the height
of 1960s chic,” including sky blue, green, and rose. And along with their popular Round and Aviator styles, they’re re-introducing the Laramy and Meteor.

It also appears as though there are some pretty sweet designs along the interior of select frames.

The 1055 aviators can also be made with a prescription.

Trussardi 1911 100th Anniversary Sunglasses

Trussardi 1911 100th Anniversary Sunglasses

We here at inStash are so sick of the sunlight that we are here to once again bring you a line on another pair of sunglasses. You’ll remember that we recently featured the Shwood X HUF Sunglasses for $180. Now we’ve got something even more prestigious on our minds. So if you’re not a $3.50 sunglasses from Dollar General type of guy, you may want to consider this:

The Trussardi 1911 100th Anniversary Sunglasses look like something that would have been right at home on Sergeant Slaughter’s ugly mug back in the old WWF days. Featuring a military styled tint–that’s camo–these things are beautifully designed and ultra sturdy, which they should be for the price of $845. Of course, you are not just paying for materials and look there. You’re also paying for the rarity factor. Only 750 of these have been produced, making them extremely hard to get your mitts on.

Shwood x HUF Sunglasses

Shwood x HUF Sunglasses

Shwood and HUF’s sunglasses collaboration is about as unique as it gets when it comes to eyewear. Crafted from old skateboard decks, these two lenses of awesome feature optical quality UVA/UVB protection. But that’s only the beginning. The dark to light wood fade features a combination of woods that include East Indian Rosewood, Walnut, Zebrawood, Cherry and Maple. It’s like wearing a classy and elegant set of living room furniture on your head except lighter and much less painful.

The packaging is pretty cool in itself with a wool drawstring sleeve for the glasses, which in turn fit into something that looks very much like a harmonica box. Unfortunately, the first run of these are sold out, but you can still get something done about that if you contact Bricksworth.com or Hufsf.com for details. It’ll cost you about $180, which is around twice what the Holly Sunglasses will cost you, but with such rareness for availability, what do you expect?

Oakley Wind Jacket

Oakley Wind Jacket

Oakley is arguably one of the most recognizable, premium  sunglasses manufacturers ever. Those sporting ‘em, they’re almost always the trendiest, most stylin’ of the bunch—those without them (or at least without some stylin’ eye-wear to boot), well, not so much.

An offshoot of the Split Jacket series, Wind Jacket glasses are designed with those that lavish the wind smacking ‘em in the face in mind, i.e. the motorcyclist. Wanna wear them as “normal” Oakley sunglasses? Simply pop out the wind gaskets. And of course, per core Oakley values, they’re also cool and trendy as hell.

Wind Jackets feature:

  • Interchangeable, hydrophobic lenses—two sets of tinted and clear lenses.
  • ‘SwitchLock’ technology (for swapping lenses) and snap-in gaskets
  • High-def optics (HDO)
  • 100% UVC, blue light, UVA, and UVB ray protection (space travel, anyone!?)
  • Removable ‘Unobtainium’ gaskets for eliminating air flow around the eyes…

…as anyone who’s experienced a continuous wall of dry air whilst biking can attest to the eye-drying, irritating effects.Wind Jackets are constructed from Oakley-proprietary O-Matter and come in a sleek, matte black-and-grey finish.

Oakley STPL Jawbone

Oakley STPL Jawbone

From the mind of Jeff Staple, top notch streetwear designer, comes this dangerous pair of shades sporting the world famous Oakley label. With even a name that inspires intimidation, the Oakley STPL Jawbone celebrates the entire history of the company that has become synonymous with fashionable eyewear. Through its futuristic frames and sharkbite lens design, Staple’s creation is 100% man–tough enough for a game of streetball and fashionable enough for casual wear.

The Oakley STPL Jawbone is not all the company has plans for either. Watch for limited edition runs of Oakley originals, Razor Blades, Frogskins, Radar, and Holbrook in the coming months. Coming in at around $225, these may be a bit more than you’re used to paying for protective eyewear, but sometimes quality comes at a price. The more practical among you may wish to stay away, but then looking cool was never about being practical.
