Ducati Monster 1100 Evo

Ducati Monster 1100 Evo

Ducati’s Monster 1100 EVO earns its name through killer good looks and enough power to rip holes in the pavement. But the real advances here are not so monstrous, as Ducati has focused on safety features that confront motorcycling’s dangerous reputation head on.

True to its bad boy good looks, the Monster’s guts are a 100HP L-twin engine, the first two-valve Ducati to pack that many horses. That’s an awesome power level at high revs, and the maker promises super smooth delivery thanks to a more linear torque curve. What that boils down is that the thing moves like a monster but weighs just 373 pountds.

Most impressive, though, are the bike’s electronic safety features, including traction control and anti-lock brakes, common in cars but relatively rare in bikes, and designed to help prevent skidding while applying the brakes. And anything that keeps you in the seat instead of on the pavement is good, right?

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept

As practical an SUV/crossover/minivan (or whatever-it’s-termed) as the current Mercedes A-Class was, no one will miss the rather conservative, minivan-like looks of it. Mercedes-Benz is looking to change that, though. And judging from the photos, the new A-Class could very well be Mercedes-Benz’s version of the ‘extreme makeover’ in hatchback form with sheet-metal that’s dressed to the nines and then some.

While it’s still in concept phase (perhaps sadly), let’s pray that the Germans keep most of the body styling as well as futuristic (in a way that’s strikingly similar to the initial SLR concept from years past) interior. The front-end is particularly eye-catching with its inverted-mesh grille and swanky, angular LED headlamps.

Nothing’s ever certain between concept and production phase; however, the rumor mill that eternally transverses the automotive blogosphere is suggesting that it could boast a 2.0L I4—worthy of about 214 horses—and a whole slew of new gadgets and safety features.

Note to Stuttgart: just make it happen already.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro | 45th Anniversary Edition

2012 Chevrolet Camaro | 45th Anniversary Edition

Muscle car fanboys: your Special Edition Camaro has arrived.

Behold the 2012 Chevy Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition—a product 45 years in making, minus the sportscar’s 2002-2009 production hiatus. Expected to be available by mid-summer of 2011, the 2012 Camaro 45th A/Edition will come in two flavors: 2LT and 2SS. Fuel- and/or budget-conscious buyers will likely opt for the V6-equipped 2LT (estimated to receive 30mpg!); those with an insatiable lust for power will make a B-line for the 2SS—locked & loaded in true pony-car style with a 6.2L V8 under the hood.

Chevy certainly didn’t forget that beauty is just as important as muscle. The Camaro 45th is decked out in a ‘Carbon Flash’ metallic paint with a super sporty red & silver rally strip running down the middle. Additionally, it’ll boast a standard spoiler in the rear, sporty 20″ chrome wheels, and HID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlights.

And lest anyone should forgo noticing that this is, in fact, a ‘special edition’ Camaro—there are strategically placed 45th Anniversary badges on the steering wheel, headrests, tail, and both sides of the exterior.

Mansory Zapico

Mansory Zapico

Mansory is the customization company that’s behind the upgrades of such exotic automobiles as the Rolls-Royce White Ghost , Ltd. Edition and Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, Mansory Edition. Apparently not content just modding out ultra-lux saloons and coupes, Mansory now introduces the Zapico—a carbon fibre/aluminum-laden ultra motorcycle.

Unlike most of its car masterpieces—which are taken from existing makes and models and substantially upgraded—the Mansory Zapico is, from the ground up, an original product. The motorbike boasts an S&S 124 cubic-inch V2 under the hood that’s worthy of 160 horsepower and will send, at near light-speed, the bike from 0-60mph in a blazin’ fast 3.3 seconds. Thanks to the aluminum, carbon fibre, and other materials designed to be light, yet top-grade—it weighs an almost-unheard-of-for-this-class 750 pounds.

Other, but equally as impressive, items on the Mansory Zapico include large 10 x 18-inch carbon disc rear wheels (3.5 x 18 front) and a polished aluminum spoiler, tank, and rear fender. It’s quite indisputably one super-sexy motorbike that’s befitting of even the Terminator himself.

SportChassis P4XL

SportChassis P4XL

It’s possibly one of the toughest-looking, gargantuan trucks on the road: behold the SportChassis P4XL. Forget fuel efficiency. Forget about finding a good parking place; hell, just forget about everything you know about trucks, because the SportChassis p4XL defies all the rules. This beast packs a whopping 8.3L Cummins-built diesel engine worth 330 horsepower and, ready yourself for it, a menacing, Earth-shattering 1,000 ft/lb of raw torque.

Still not impressed? How about the fact that the P4XL sports a 17,000lb air suspension in the rear, a 10,000lb front axle assembly, and the coveted Allison TRV3200 5-speed tranny? Or that it implements a shift-on-the-fly style system, which lets the driver change between two- and four-wheel drive while in motion? You can even order the beast with a rear hitch that’s height-adjustable.

As far as standard equipment is concerned, all that’s merely the tip of the iceberg. Notice the 22-inch wheels and think of the engine’s raw power: think that the cabin may be a bit noisy, or that handling and safety will take a backseat? Think again. The truck is designed with a proprietary noise-canceling system—dubbed the ‘Passive Noise Reduction System’—as well as a state-of-the-art Ride Enhancement Package—which guarantees a safe, secure, and luxurious ride.

Don’t think for a second that the interior has been skimped on. Standard fare inside includes an exclusive Pioneer sound system, high-tech insulation/sound-proofing material for quietness and isolation from the outside, and a large GPS screen with satellite radio and Bluetooth. And as far as options—well, there’s simply too many to list!

Critter Gitter

Critter Gitter

If anything ever had the right to claim itself a macho boy-toy, the Critter Gitter does. Resembling a pontoon mounted on monster-truck wheels, the 13,000lb, 30ft-long Critter Gitter is one serious-ass machine. Gander at the specs, though, and you then realize that this is far more than just a camouflage-laden people carrier on steroids. Standard equipment:

  • An Earth-crushing 8.2L V8 custom-built Ford big-block, a military-grade C-6 transmission, and massive 64” tires riding on 2.5 ton axles.
  • A Bazooka sound system that includes four giant outdoor speakers, a CD player and iPod connection.
  • Leather seats, all with individual gun and cup holders, with removable rear seats for extra cargo-totin’ capabilities in the rear.
  • A livestock feed system that includes a lower water tank with pressurized connections and upper and lower feeder tanks with electronic motor assemblies (for corn, milo, etc.)—all manipulative via dash-mounted controls.
  • A hydraulically-operated rear ladder and steps, sliding ramp and winch for hauling large game and seats up into the beast, and sophisticated suspension-mounted airbag system (also of which can be controlled via the flick of a switch on the dash).

Eat your heart out, Hunter Thompson.

Raonhaje Ego | Semi-Submarine Boat

Raonhaje Ego | Semi-Submarine Boat

Raonhaje Ego, the semi-submarine boat, is the latest and greatest craze to hit the water, giving you the best of both worlds when it comes to sea life. The floating upper hull allows you to look out across the horizon for a romantic sunset with the person you love. And if that works to the extent that we think it will, you can both take the stairs to the submerged central hull, where only the fish and algae have to know what happens next.

Easy steering makes maneuvering this thing about as easy as driving an automatic car. With the acrylic windows surrounding you down below, you can experience sea life up close and personal with the safety you just can’t get from scuba or snorkeling. With the warmer months approaching, think about adding the Raonhaje Ego semi-submarine boat to your list of possible watercraft purchases. (At least until they disclose the price!)

2012 Aston Martin Virage

2012 Aston Martin Virage

The evolution of a line of cars is kind of like the evolution of a species, in that sometimes when there’s a major evolutionary leap, it leaves a gap in the fossil chain. Aston Martin aims to fill in one of those missing links with the 2012 Virage, which fits comfortably between the DB9 and the DBS, and continues Aston Martin’s determination to stay synonymous with the term “sweet ride”.

The Virage sports a 6.0-liter V-12, comparable to both the DB9 and the DBS, but with 490 hp, exactly halfway between the specs of the other two. It’ll do 0 to 62mph in 4.6 seconds, which is just about fast enough to melt your face off. And the engine is mounted as far back in the chassis as it can go without being right in your lap, delivering significant bonuses to handling.

And all you have to do is look at the picture to see Aston Martin’s got the design thing down. In coupe or convertible Volante forms, It looks a lot like a massaged DB9, sleek and sporty but not obnoxiously so, with sharper headlights and a new hand-finished stainless steel grille. And the interior is all impossibly luxurious hand-stitched Bridge of Weir leather.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

After a successful run, Lamborghini decided to retire its Murcielago top-end line of vehicles, and the details of its successor have finally broken the surface. Meet the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.

Borrowing several design elements from the Reventon, the Aventador has a 6500cc V12 engine that puts out 700 hp and 479 lb feet of torque that will get you from 0-60 in a blazingly fast 2.8 seconds. This also gets another benefit over its predecessor in a 500 pound weight drop thanks to its carbon fiber chassis, and a 70% more rigid frame should guarantee better handling. One of the most efficient creations that should be on any low-slung car is the hydraulic chin lifter, which raises the front of the car by 40mm at the touch of a button, guaranteeing this beauty will stay that way the next time you come across a speed bump.

Lamborghini has always been known as a top of the line car company, and the Aventador will guarantee it stays that way.

2012 Imperia GP

2012 Imperia GP

Who said quality gas mileage had to come at the cost of driving something that looked like crap? Certainly not the makers of the 2012 Imperia GP! For retro car enthusiasts, the Imperia GP is a familiar body that was popular during the first part of the 20th Century. However, what wasn’t possible during that time was a hybrid mix of gasoline and electric motor. The 1.6-liter turbo four boasts 207 horsepower and combines with 134 horsies from the motor to produce a 0-62 acceleration rate in just 4 to 6 seconds. Not bad for an environmentally conscious ride!

The Imperia GP debuted in its native homeland at the Belgian Auto Show. While it is not exactly “hot rod” material, it is definitely the answer for those of you who’ve been complaining about the looks of hybrid cars with its sleek black paint job and classic but modern build. While it’s a tad pricey at $124k, you’ll be doing your environment a favor.

It’s free, and we’ll keep you up-to-date with all of the cool stuff we find! Cars, clothes, video games, movies, gadgets, you name it!
