2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

When we told you four months ago not to expect to get your hands on a 2012 Hyundai Veloster anytime soon, we weren’t kidding. There are still no Velosters to be found on dealer lots.

But if you are one of those who are patiently waiting to take this quirky ride for a spin, you just might have lucked out with the announcement of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Sure the base Veloster was appealing with 40 mpg highway, but there’s no doubt the 201 horsepower turbo version will be a helluva lot more fun to drive. It also comes equipped with a new aggressive hexagonal opening on the grille, new set of foglights, LED taillamps and a more vocal exhaust.

“But I’ll suffer at the pump” you say? 27 mpg city and 38 highway with the six-speed manual… hardly what we would call suffering.…

2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible

2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible

Nothing’s more savory in the automotive world, especially come spring and toasty summer, than a sexy, sporty drop-top, right?

And if you’ve got the dough, Jaguar has one of the newest, most lusty ones for you yet! Powered by Jag’s time-tested, time-approved supercharged 5.0L V8 (worthy of some 550 supercharged horses), the XKR-S Convertible arrives as Jaguar’s most powerful convertible ever. Just how fast and powerful? It’ll tear up the pavement with a top speed of 186mph (forget combing your hair!) and blasts from 0-60mph in a scant 4.2 seconds.

Additionally, better drive dynamics, sweeter interior appointments (including carbon leather-trimmed seats), and a sexier-than-ever body have all found their way into the creme of the XK crop; that is, the XKR-S convertible.…

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible boasts 580 horsies under the hood along with a 556 lb.-ft. torque rating. What that means to the layman is this: it’s a whole lot awesomer than the 2012 Aston Martin, the 2012 Mercedes SL63 AMG, the 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S, and the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500.

With that said, you can get into a lot of trouble with this bad boy, so be careful. The acceleration, road handling, and overall quality will have you getting a little too comfortable with yourself on that trip to the grocery store. Remember, you’re making the trip for milk and eggs, not to come back with a hefty fine from Johnny Law. If this car doesn’t suit your fancy, then maybe you can find something in The Impossible Collection of Cars, the man’s answer to the old school Sears Catalog.…

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG is yet another in a long line of models from the famous auto name that I’ll never be able to afford. Yes, kiddies, I once dreamed of becoming a Benz owner, but then I decided that writer would be a better career choice than doctor, and the dream went to hell. So what will I be missing? Quite a bit, actually.

For starters, there is the 5.5-liter V8 engine capable of going from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Since the ride is electronically limited to a top speed of 155 miles per hour, getting as big of a traffic ticket would also be less concern for me. It accomplishes this thanks to the 415 horsepower rating. Not the most powerful Benz AMG has ever produced, and nowhere in it with the ferocity of the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, but no slouch either.…

Nissan Juke-R

Nissan Juke-R

What does a Nissan Juke-R sound like? A beast… and we’ve got the video to prove it.

Powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 taken from the Nissan GT-R, this baby runs on 485 hp. No official performance specs have been given yet, but estimates give the Juke-R a 3.6 second 0-60 run and a quarter mile in 11.44 seconds at 124 mph. Just don’t get too excited; currently there are plans to build only two, so chances are you and I won’t ever see one on the streets.

Oh well, that’s what YouTube is for.

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

It’s a Ferrari… It’s a Lamborghini… It’s a Ford?

Indeed, the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 boasts an upgraded powertrain and cooling system to handle the all new 5.8-liter, aluminum-block V8 and supercharger. Numbers you say? How does 650 hp, 600 lb/ft of torque and a top speed of over 200 mph sound? Oh and the entire machine weighs just 3,850 pounds. Absolute beast mode.

Looks like the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has some competition.…

Chrome Audi R8 Spyder

Chrome Audi R8 Spyder

Looking like a bling-bling’ed out, chrome Bugatti Veyron, the 2011 Audi R8 Spyder Chrome is one of the latest endeavors in automotive excess and a helluva lot of fun to look (drool) at.

But curve your jealousy: Only two R8 Spyder Chromes were ever produced, and both of them—gone. The exotic coupes were recently auctioned for charity, paid for, then re-donated and sold again by a couple of, um, rich yuppies at the ritzy White Tie and Tiara Ball for the Elton John AIDS foundation. What’s beneath the hood, though?

The same engine that’s used in ‘standard’ R8 Spyders—one badass 518 horse, 390 lb.ft torque, 5.2L V10 engine that propels the instant-sex magnet from 0 to 60 in 3.8 secs and tears up the road with a max speed of 197mph.

One has to wonder, though…sporting all that chrome on a very sunny day, won’t the driver meet a fate similar to a microwaved baked potato still in its foil?…

Porsche Panamera Stingray GTR

Porsche Panamera Stingray GTR

To paraphrase Spinal Tap: the question is, how much more awesome could the Porsche Panamera Stingray GTR  be? And the answer is… none. None more awesome.

The amazing gearheads at Topcar in Moscow have been tuning up premium cars for nearly a decade, tweaking the designs and performance of models from Porsche, Bentley, Mini, and BMW. And now they’ve turned their attention to the Porsche Panamera, giving it an almost entirely new body crafted from carbon fiber, Kevlar, and awesomeness. Then they got under the hood and souped it up with a sport air filter, intake manifold, and a new exhaust system. The regular Panamera Turbo has a paltry 500 horses. Topcar’s Stingray model crams in a hundred more.

If you want one, you should know that they’re only making 25. That’s the very definition of a limited run. So if you actually manage to get one, you can be pretty sure it’ll be easy to pick out in the parking lot.…

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Any time there’s a new model Porsche released, you can hear the engine rev echo across the world. Do you hear it right now? The soft purr of 500 horses saying “you want me”? Wipe the mist from your envious eyes and read on.

The 2011 model is a limited edition–only 600 are being produced. So only 600 insanely lucky people are going to be treated to the most powerful 911 ever, most of its guts lifted right out of the track model, melting the road as its 4.0-litre flat-six pops to 60mph in a gut-flattening 3.8 seconds, and all the way to 124mph in only 12 seconds. If you see 600 people walking around with their hair on fire, you’ll know they’re the ones who got one of these.

All 600 will have six-speed manual transmissions, central twin exhausts, and deflection vanes on both sides of the front bumper to keep this baby glued to the road. And they’re all pristine white, so you can forget any ideas you’ve got about that hot pink Porsche. Motion blur looks better white anyway, and that’s all anybody’s ever going to see.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro | 45th Anniversary Edition

2012 Chevrolet Camaro | 45th Anniversary Edition

Muscle car fanboys: your Special Edition Camaro has arrived.

Behold the 2012 Chevy Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition—a product 45 years in making, minus the sportscar’s 2002-2009 production hiatus. Expected to be available by mid-summer of 2011, the 2012 Camaro 45th A/Edition will come in two flavors: 2LT and 2SS. Fuel- and/or budget-conscious buyers will likely opt for the V6-equipped 2LT (estimated to receive 30mpg!); those with an insatiable lust for power will make a B-line for the 2SS—locked & loaded in true pony-car style with a 6.2L V8 under the hood.

Chevy certainly didn’t forget that beauty is just as important as muscle. The Camaro 45th is decked out in a ‘Carbon Flash’ metallic paint with a super sporty red & silver rally strip running down the middle. Additionally, it’ll boast a standard spoiler in the rear, sporty 20″ chrome wheels, and HID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlights.

And lest anyone should forgo noticing that this is, in fact, a ‘special edition’ Camaro—there are strategically placed 45th Anniversary badges on the steering wheel, headrests, tail, and both sides of the exterior.…
