Ikea Uppleva

Ikea Uppleva

Television, multiple remote controls, Blu-ray player, DVD player, CD player, speakers and a tangled mess of cable cords. Sound like your entertainment system?

Ikea has an all-in-one solution for that clutter… the Uppleva. The Uppleva is a home theater system that includes everything mentioned above (yes, everything) all wrapped up into a sleek looking piece of furniture. One remote operates all components, and the front of the furniture allows signals to pass through so that you don’t actually have to see the gear to control it. Just place the wireless subwoofer anywhere in the room and you’re ready to roll.

The HD LED backlit TV will be available in 24, 36, 40 and 46 inches and will include WiFi and the Opera browser for “smart” features. Choose from three different bench designs in six different finishes.

Apple TV? Google TV? Nope… the Ikea Uppleva.

JW Anderson x Porter Men’s Show Backpack

JW Anderson x Porter Men’s Show Backpack

JW Anderson, a runway show designer, decided to bring his “eclectic and artisanal approach” to the luggage industry. And who better to team up with than Porter, the Japanese luggage specialists.

Made from woven, straw-like fibres and soft grained premium leather, the bag zips vertically down the back, has ventilation and thick padding on the side, padded adjustable straps, a clipped waist belt, and four zipped external pockets.

Finished with J.W. Anderson leather tags, as well as a Porter brand patch on the rear.

Self Balancing Unicycle

SBU V3

Need a quick and easy way to travel short distances? How about a unicycle?

This isn’t just any old unicycle. It’s a self balancing unicycle. The company claims that after about 20 minutes on the SBU V3, riding becomes as natural as walking. And if you need a little more assistance you can always grab a set of their “Noob Wheels.”  Controls are handled with natural leaning motions, similar to a Segway. As for performance, the bike will zip from 0 to 10 mph in 3 seconds, has a top speed of 15 mph and a range of up to 10 miles… not too shabby for a machine that weighs 27 lbs.

Getting to the subway, bus, or train just got a whole lot easier.

1805 Imperial Phantom Pocket Watch

1805 Imperial Phantom Pocket Watch

Back in the 19th century it was easy to look wealthy and sophisticated. Just wear a top hat, pop in your monocle, check your pocket watch, and say “harumph”. Bingo, you’re an aristocrat. Nowadays top hats and monocles are hard to come by, but at least one of these classy affectations is coming back.

The 1805 Imperial Phantom from March LA.B is a Napoleonic-era-inspired pocket watch on a chain, with some modern design and functionality flourishes worked in. It’s got an analog alarm, which no doubt watches in the French Empire sadly lacked, and a snake coil chain with two choices of chain clasp. The glass is anti-reflective mineral crystal with sapphire coating, and if you happen to be foolish enough to wear it when you’re snorkeling, it’s good to 50 meters. It also comes with a stand so you can show it off when you’re not harumphing around town.

Traxxas XO-1 | 100 MPH RC Car

Traxxas XO-1 | 100 MPH RC Car

An all-wheel-drive electric car capable of 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and 0-100 in 4.92 seconds. Absolutely ridiculous right?

And what if we told you that this car weighs just over 10 pounds and runs on batteries? Believe it. The Traxxas XO-1 is the “”world’s fastest ready-to-race radio-controlled supercar.” Yup, it’s just a toy. But don’t think for a minute that you’ll find this baby running around in a neighborhood near you. This is for the big boys, and by that we mean experts.

Did we mention you can control it through an iPhone app…

Bronze Bones | Domino Set

Bronze Bones | Domino Set

What, you thought high-end products stopped with cars, yachts and watches?

The Bronze Bones domino set, a collaboration between The Principals and The World’s Best Ever, treats dominoes as artistic objects rather than just another table game. The pieces are hand-machined from blackened bronze, and the weight, shape and numbering have all been refined into a unique geometric design.

The set comes packaged in a leather bound hollowed-out book, complete with score pad, pencil and sharpener.

A2 Angle Shelf

A2 Angle Shelf

If you assemble a shelf and it’s even slightly crooked, your wife gives you hell and makes you do it again, right? Well now you’ve got some justification for your up-until-now feeble “it’s supposed to look like that” defense. The A2 Angle Shelf is, indeed, supposed to be crooked. And rather than looking like a poor handyman’s mistake, it actually looks stylish. Six feet wide and made of sturdy white MDF, the Angle has 18 cubbies and nary a right angle in sight.

Probably not the best place to display your collection of signed game balls, but a visually interesting alternative for anything more gravity-resistant.

Brennwagen Grills

Brennwagen Grills

Brennwagen Grills come in three different models, and range from an affordable $725 to a life-changing $6,300. If you’re into grilling, though, these will hit the spot at any price level. Designed by a former Formula One racer, you can kind of see the pedigree at work when you get a peek.

With the heaviest of the heavy duty GTC 1200 and its GTC 800 little brother, you get  fully isolated drawers for meat and drinks, stainless steel construction, integrated thermometers, drum brakes, height-adjustable grill units, thick and sturdy wheels and a dolly handle that helps you to safely and easily get to wherever you need to go for that next grill-out.

The GTC 500 is the low man on the totem pole, but still features plenty of storage on two wheels in a unit the size of a hibachi grill. Any of these models offer the finest tailgating available, so loosen the purse strings and go grill wild. And while you’re at it, load up on these Grilling & BBQ Kits to help bring out the flavor.

Sony DEV-5 | Digital Recording Binoculars

Sony DEV-5 | Digital Recording Binoculars

Question: why, in all of the digital age, are we just now thinking about digital recording binoculars as a possibility? Sony beat everyone to the punch with one of the most plain-as-the-nose-on-your-face creations of the last 50 years. The Sony DEV-5 is capable of a 20x zoom while maintaining high quality in the image. And while you’re spying on your client’s philandering husband from across town, you’ll also be recording the entire show for later viewing.

Yes, we’re aware that these bad boys can tear down privacy even more so than the lack we are already experiencing, but damn, they’re cool. Of course, we’ll need about two grand if we hope to become one of the lucky owners, but this is electronics: prices fall all the time. And if you need to get closer to the action, make sure you pick up the Parrot AR.Drone Quadricopter while you’re at it.

Silhouette Floating Lamp | By LightLight

Silhouette Floating Lamp | By LightLight

Ready to really light up the room with magical furniture? Well the Silhouette Floating Lamp isn’t real magic, but your guests won’t know that. The floating effect is actually possible due to its integrated levitation technology, consisting of electromagnetic components and a sophisticated control system.

The ultramodern lamp was designed by Angela Jensen with help from engineer Ger Jansen, and features a handcrafted wooden base with a high gloss black finish. The lamp shade and power cord are both covered with a matte black fabric.

A floating lamp that impresses while looking stylish. Can’t go wrong there.
