Man Candles | By Yankee Candle

Man Candles | By Yankee Candle

The Yankee Candle store… it’s one of those shops that you never see men in, unless they’re being dragged in there by women. Because walking into a home with a man surrounded by candles that smell like “Summer Love” and “Citrus Passion” is actually a bit worrying.

But Yankee Candle is hoping to change all of that with their new collection of Man Candles. These masculine scents include Riding Mower, First Down, 2 x 4, and Man Town.

Cut grass, fresh dirt, the floor of a lumber mill, and cologne. Mmmm…

Custom Marvel Comic Portraits

Custom Marvel Comic Portraits

While they’re not as sweet looking as the Zombie Portraits we featured a couple weeks ago, these Custom Marvel Comic Portraits are definitely a lot more personal. And for you Marvel Comic fans, we’re sure these will be a hit.

Simply send in a head shot and they’ll send you a custom superhero canvas print. Choose from Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk or Thor. A variety of materials, portrait sizes, frame and mounting options are available.

They even have father & son packages (great Father’s Day gift?).

Thanks for the product suggestion Lindsay!

Zombie Portraits

Zombie Portraits

So if this zombie apocalypse really does take place, what exactly would our beloved cartoon characters and superheroes look like? Probably a lot like these insanely brilliant portraits.

Artist Andre de Freitas created an all new series of prints featuring zombified faces of icons including Batman, Iron Man, Charlie Brown, Donald Duck, Popeye and even Waldo, among others. The prints are being sold at Society6 and are available from 8″ x 9″ all the way up to 22″ x 26″.

Art enthusiast or not, any guy can appreciate these.

CanvasPop Instagram Photos

CanvasPop Instagram Photos

Thanks to a mix of a secret algorithm and good ol’ fashioned business savvy, hipsters across the US and Canada can finally display their Instagram masterpiece in physical form. Blown-up onto a canvas to hang on their wall, these quasi-paintings come in many different sizes and options. CanvasPop, the company behind the idea, is a spin-off of the folks at DNA 11 who blew up strands of DNA into gorgeous portraits.

Users of the popular photo-sharing service can integrate their account with the CanvasPop site and easily choose the photos they wish to print. Though some of the photos posted to Instagram should be forgotten and never seen again, there are a lot of talented people who use the service and will appreciate that their art can live a truly offline existence.

Hand Grenade Oil Lamp

Hand Grenade Oil Lamp

From designer Piet Houtenbos comes the Hand Grenade Oil Lamp for all you weekend warriors, armchair assassins, and weapon nuts. While this thing won’t actually explode and kill a bunch of enemy soldiers, or your best friends, it will scare the holy crap out of them. Why? Because not only does it look the part of an actual grenade, it is one. At least the casing is. Inside, however, you can use scented oils that will burn prominently for 24 hours straight, reminding you that even in war, a good aroma isn’t gonna kill anyone.

Add some Armed Notebooks by Molla Space to your purchase, and you’ll officially have people nominating you for the Department of Homeland Security’s Terror Alert list.

Star Wars Holiday Lights

Star Wars Holiday Lights

The Christmas Spirit is strong in those, who choose to make Star Wars Holiday Lights a part of their annual celebration. Now you can choose your favorite Star Wars characters to adorn that holiday tree, as long as your favorite Star Wars characters are Yoda and R2-D2. The 11.5-foot long strand of lights contains 10 Yodas or R2s on each one. It’s all officially licensed by the bearded one, so no fear of getting slapped with a lawsuit.

It also runs only $30, a small price to pay for special themed lights. Add one strand a year, and maybe by the time your kids are grown, you’ll be able to have the whole friggin’ galaxy from far, far away up on your tree. We’re holding out for the Darth Vader Tree Topper. Come on, guys. Make that happen. Also not a bad Star Wars holiday idea: the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle. Tad more expensive, though.

Photo Allegory | By Sarolta Bán

Photo Allegory | By Sarolta Bán

You may be wondering what photo allegory is (admittedly, I had to look it up). Basically it’s a picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning or an abstract idea. But what we do know is that this digital photo manipulation is pure awesomeness.

Created by Sarolta Bán,  a 29 year old photographer from Hungary (originally a jewelry designer), up to 100 different layers are used for each image, and can sometimes take several days to finish. In her own words, “I like using ordinary elements and by combining them, I can give them various stories, personalities. I hope that the meanings of my pictures are never too limited, are open in some way, each viewer can transform them into a personal aspect.”

Most of her images are available as digital prints and canvases.

KULT Studio | Animation Art

KULT Studio | Animation Art

Got a sweet spot for pop-culture art from the likes of Marvel, DC Comics, and Disney—but aren’t sure how to go about, um, displaying it in your otherwise ‘grown-up’ abode? Enter KULT Studio. Kult produces professionally framed, limited-edition prints of just about any trademark character or show conceivable. Take a gander at a few of Kult’s unique offerings:

  • Professional renditions of timeless icons such as The Avengers, Captain America, Batman/The Dark Knight. Thundercats, Looney Toons, and The Simpsons.
  • Satirical interpretations of many classics.
  • More Star Wars artwork/memorabilia than you could shake a stick at.
  • Various Rock & Roll and film icons.

…all available in one of five exquisite frame styles: Modern (clean, chic), Executive, Noir, Classic, and Baroque (Ornate, fancy). We’re seriously contemplating a piece for the office itself, the only problem being a (seemingly) newly-formed DC Comics/Marvel rivalry amongst your inStash staff!

Blind Barber Tompkins Candle

Blind Barber Tompkins Candle

The Blind Barber is a combination barber shop and bar located in New York’s East Village, whose mission is to revive the roaring twenties and redefine modern manhood. You get a complimentary cocktail with your haircut and, if you like, you can hang out in a very creative space once you’re looking all trim and groomed.

Now they’re attempting to bring that barber shop feeling home with Blind Barber “Tompkins” scented candles. Hand-poured right there in New York, these midnight blue bad boys combine the scents of honey, smoke, leather, and lavender, which the boys at Blind Barber feel best represent the atmosphere of the shop. I would have thought shampoo would be mixed in there somewhere, but you can always simulate that part yourself.

Available in small and large sizes, they naturally come in those stainless steel and molded glass “Barbicide” jars you see on every barber’s counter. Even for those not obsessed with grooming, there’s something kinda cool about that.

The Impossible Cool Print Collection

The Impossible Cool Collection

Sonic Editions and The Impossible Cool have unleashed a series of dramatic black and white photos taken from the everyday lives of some of the coolest dudes and dudettes in recent human history. Paul Newman, Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe…there are 10 of them in all and you can have a framed or unframed photographic reproduction of these icons in pictures you have most likely never seen before. All it will cost you is $79 (unframed) or $109 (framed) per icon.

The price is really worth it when you consider that these renderings are going to be limited to just 50 per icon. 500 pics in all. Whoever the lucky bum is that ends up with all 500, drop us a line. We’d be glad to either buy them off you or receive for free as a birthday gift. What, no? Can’t blame a non-cool guy for trying. Anyhow, these go great with EasyWallz murals if you’re in to redecorating.
