Ikea Uppleva

Ikea Uppleva

Television, multiple remote controls, Blu-ray player, DVD player, CD player, speakers and a tangled mess of cable cords. Sound like your entertainment system?

Ikea has an all-in-one solution for that clutter… the Uppleva. The Uppleva is a home theater system that includes everything mentioned above (yes, everything) all wrapped up into a sleek looking piece of furniture. One remote operates all components, and the front of the furniture allows signals to pass through so that you don’t actually have to see the gear to control it. Just place the wireless subwoofer anywhere in the room and you’re ready to roll.

The HD LED backlit TV will be available in 24, 36, 40 and 46 inches and will include WiFi and the Opera browser for “smart” features. Choose from three different bench designs in six different finishes.

Apple TV? Google TV? Nope… the Ikea Uppleva.

Sony Personal 3D Viewer

Sony Personal 3D Viewer

Remember those neat-o “virtual reality” (VR) headsets of the ’90′s that were suppose to be the ‘wave of the future’? Well, turns out—they went the way of Atari and Sega. Sony hasn’t given up on the idea, though!

The Sony ‘Personal 3D Viewer’—nomenclature-ized the HMZ-T1—is a ‘Head-Mounted Display’ (HMD) that sports a compact 3D/HD-capable, OLED display screen for-your-eyes-only. The wearer can soak in HD or HD AND 3D (far out, dude!) movies or play video games in glorious 720p resolution.

If that’s not enough, additional features such as the slick, visor-like design and three-dimensional virtual surround sound feature should certainly satisfy all but the most hardcore audio/video-philes.

Dish Network Tailgater

Dish Network Tailgater

If you’re like the folks here at inStash, you really love your tailgating. You also really love your HDTV. So what could go wrong when you combine the two? In our opinion, not a damn thing.

With the Dish Network Tailgater, you can enjoy quality HD programming while you’re tailgating. Question: why should we buy a football ticket to our favorite school’s game when we can just eat really good food in the parking lot outside, and watch the game via automatic satellite transmission? Answers are not forthcoming.

While the roar of the crowd is a plus of in-person attendance, the drunken morons shouting obscenities at the opposing team are not. Might as well hook up the Dish Network Tailgater and enjoy the best of both worlds. Along with the Tailgate Folding Wooden Picnic Table, we’re having a really hard time seeing why we should even go home afterward.

TiVo Premiere Q

TiVo Premiere Q

TiVo is trying to do more business with cable operators by releasing a brand new set top box in conjunction with RCN and Suddenlink.

The TiVo Premiere Q expands upon the original dual-tuner TiVo Premiere by offering quad-tuning capabilities. What that means is the Q can record up to four shows at once and stream up to three HD feeds over a Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) or Ethernet home network. Say goodbye to fighting over whose Season Pass gets cancelled because it conflicts with something else at the same time.

An updated TiVo iPad app is also due soon that would incorporate video-on-demand into the app’s search and browsing functions, along with the operator’s on-demand catalog and linear programming listing.

Prepare to be the master of your home entertainment domain with the new TiVo Premiere Q and TiVo iPad app when they’re released.

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 4 | 85-inch 3D HDTV

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 4 | 85-inch 3D HDTV

1080p televisions just aren’t as exciting as they once were. Hence, Bang & Olufsen thought it best to bring back that intensity (and then some)!

One look at the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 4 (and what an awesome name for a supremely phenomenal TV, eh?) is all it’ll take to make even a grown man drool with envy. The almost-ridiculously-huge, 85″ 3D BeoVision 4 plasma TV comes fully loaded with state-of-the-art active shutter glasses, B&A’s Automatic Colour Management program, Acoustic Lens Technology (making an independent sound system almost completely unnecessary), and 3D capability for compatible movies and television shows.

The wonderment doesn’t stop there, oh no. Perhaps one of the most enviable features of the mammoth TV is the motorized stand (a gem to behold, itself) that can adjust its height (as well as tilt) to become perfectly level with the viewer’s line of sight.

Ciil Technologies Weatherproof HDTVs

Ciil Technologies Weatherproof HDTVs

Ciil Technologies may be a young company–only a year old at the time of this writing–but their ideas are pretty advanced, and that includes a range of HDTVs for outdoor use (primarily), which offer weather resistance with the highest waterproof and dust-proof ratings out there. So the next time you’re sitting in a driving rainstorm, and you don’t have the sense to come in out of it, you will still be able to benefit from the advantages of 1080p.

The Ciil Technologies Weatherproof HDTVs come in a range of sizes from 32-inches to 55, which means they’d make great inside TVs as well. They operate on LCD technology, and will soon become a mainstay at pubs, taverns, and family eateries with an outdoor lounging area. Exciting technology, but aren’t we all just a little too married to our TVs? What’s that, no, I should shut the hell up, this TV rocks? Okay, message heard. Loud and clear.

LG LZ9700: 72-inch LED 3D TV

LG LZ9700: 72-inch LED 3D TV

In the ongoing blurring of the lines between movie theater and home television, LG has thrown the LZ9700 into the arena. This 72-inch beast is currently the largest 3D enabled television on the market. LG is currently keeping a lot of the details under their hats, but some of the details have already been discovered.

Alongside producing images in both 2D and 3D, the LZ9700 also has a 240hz refresh rate, 1920×1080 resolution, local LED dimming, USB inputs, DLNA compatible, Internet app enabled and LG’s Magic Motion Remote Control. It’s about as close to the movie-going experience you can get without ticket stubs.

Sticky floors and annoying cell phone guy not included.

Safretti Double Vision Hanging HDTV/Fireplace

Safretti Double Vision Hanging HDTV/Fireplace

So you’ve got a small apartment in the city and you’re looking for ways to maximize space, while at the same time minimizing funds. Perhaps the Safretti Double Vision Hanging HDTV and Fireplace would be perfect for you.

The Double Vision features either a 37-inch or 47-inch LCD HDTV on top and a fully-functioning, bio-alcohol-fueled fireplace on the bottom. The whole package is wrapped in a thin, slender form factor that hangs or leans against any appropriately-sized wall.

The Netherlands-based company doesn’t have an office in the states; if you want to buy one of these, you’ll have to head to Mexico. This also makes pricing difficult to pin down, as any prospective buyer will need to contact a sales rep in the nearest country where Safretti has an office.

Regardless, the Double Vision will probably be the “mega-yacht” of city-based bajillionaires everywhere.

Sony Google TV

Sony Internet TV

Sony Internet TV has those of us who are a bit more progressive-minded bathing in the tears of our cable companies. That’s right, inStashers, you are one step closer to cutting those cable costs with this contraption from Sony and Google, who have teamed together for an easy-to-use TV experience. What’s really cool about it is that you can run searches as easily as you would online with a custom QWERTY keypad remote control–very cool.

The Sony Internet TV ranges from 24-to-46 inches in size making it possible to ditch the laptop for small screen entertainment the way it was intended. Other sizes include 32 and 40 inches. What sets this apart from the competition for us is the built-in Wi-Fi, which allows you to remove the television from the box and begin enjoying the programming selections immediately. Nothing more to purchase or acquire so long as you’ve got access to wireless Internet.

Bose VideoWave

Bose VideoWave

Bose VideoWave is poised to do for television what the speaker manufacturer has long done for audio. Featuring the speakers for which Bose is known, built in and invisible from detection, there is nothing invisible about the 1080p HD display nor inaudible about the home theater sound for which the company has long been known.

Bose VideoWave does a pretty good job positioning itself as an alternative to the current slate of flat-panel HDTV’s on the market. It goes beyond being “just a television” and strives for the full home theater experience in television form. Like any good seller, the company has nothing to hide either. The display, which goes exclusively to Bose stores on October 14, 2010, is featured prominently on the Bose website in a video presentation that shows layer-by-layer how the screen is constructed and what it looks like in action. 46 inches, kiddies, all for the low, low cost of $5,300!? Mother of crap. I want one!
