JMC Soundboard

JMC Soundboard

The JMC Soundboard is in equal parts a striking cosmetic display for any room and a booming addition to your musical scene. Crafted from 350-year old spruce trees and expert paper-thin craftsmanship, these acoustical wonders are so simple in design, yet so overwhelming when it comes to musical distribution. Boasting a convex surface, the sound is evenly sent to all points in the room without the need for multiple pieces of equipment. Makes pretty cool wall art, too.

Between the JMC Soundboard and the People People Invisible Speaker, you can finally have an acoustically pleasing room that isn’t packed to the gills with bulky, unsightly equipment. On the other hand, you may not be ready to part with the coin that it takes to get there. JMC wants $6,500 for their creation.

People People Invisible Speaker

People People Invisible Speaker

The People People Invisible Speaker is a unique blend of high-tech wizardry and interior design. While electronic components have always been the bane of an interior designer’s existence, this product is a win-win for everyone. The speaker components themselves are emphasized, but they are protected in a transparent glass casing that can be hung on a wall and, largely, ignored (if you’re so inclined).

The People People Invisible Speaker does have to be assembled at home, but have you seen that picture. So easy looks like even a certain incompetent inStash writer could do it. Maybe not as nostalgic as the Custom Cedar Cigar Box Powered Speakers, but the wi-fi antenna that connects to most any player, computer or phone, allows you to listen to music in all its many forms–from vinyl to digital.

Custom Cedar Cigar Box Powered Speakers

Custom Cedar Cigar Box Powered Speakers

Is louder necessarily better when it comes to speakers? Not if you ask the makers of the Maduro Sonos custom cedar cigar box powered speakers. They’ll tell you these aren’t very loud. But what they lack in volume, they make up for in pure, rich, and original bass tones that are more than capable of filling up a large-to-mid-sized room without disturbing the neighbors or your co-workers. These multi-purpose speakers are great as functional decor in your home or office, and they can give your cubicle/office/entertainment room an added touch of class that other speakers can’t provide.

Crafted from genuine cigar boxes, and still usable for that function, not all of these will look alike, (after all, there are different grains of wood involved), but each promises to be expertly crafted. Great accessory to go with your Nub Cigars.

Mark Neumann Coliseum Speakers

Mark Neumann Coliseum Speakers

Mark Neumann Coliseum speakers are hand-crafted out of solid wood and offer superior sound quality for most audiophiles (and since they start at around $15k, they ought to).

Each speaker houses an internal solid maple Mark Neumann Nine Matrix soundboard, 7-inch woofers and rear and dual horizontal round openings for the tweeters, reminiscent of the cast iron plate of a concert grand piano. Sound is dispersed in 360-degrees, rather than straight ahead, resulting in a clear, wide open sound with everything intact.

Just hook up a top-notch turntable, like the Denon DP-A100, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a home entertainment center. Music will never sound as good.

Pioneer VSX-1021-K 7.1 | A/V Receiver

Pioneer VSX-1021-K 7.1 | A/V Receiver

If you just spent $499+ on a brand new Apple iPad 2, congratulations – you’re going to want to drop another $550 pretty soon.

The Pioneer VSX-1021-K 7.1 A/V Receiver (I’ll just be calling it the VSX for short) is an AirPlay compatible home entertainment receiver designed with the iPad in mind. Using the iPad and the iControlAV2 app as a 9.7-inch remote control, you’ll be able to stream YouTube videos, music, movies and other content over your home wireless network directly to your entertainment center through the VSX.

The receiver also works with the iPad 1, iPhone, iPod Touch and regular old PCs to stream all types of media to your enormous television and surround sound speakers.

The additional AirJam feature lets up to four devices share music wirelessly and create group playlists, so your parties can go on all night (or until your guests get sick of all the REO Speedwagon you’ve been playing. Seriously, what is your fascination with that band?).

So come on – what’s another $550 dollars for a state-of-the-art receiver that integrates with nearly every device in your house?

X-Mini Capsule Speakers

X-Mini Capsule Speakers

That’s right, it’s a new installment of “Yet Another Portable Speaker”. However, this one is about the size of a peach and is entirely self contained. Lasting up to 12 hours, the X-Mini is a small pod that sits on your desk and pumps out clear highs and thumping bass thanks to 40mm drivers and the Bass Xpansion System, respectively.

Using the built-in “buddy jack”, you can also link up multiple X-Minis for a seriously amplified sound and a desk that looks like something out of the Matrix. Travel speakers come and go, but judging by the size and versatility of the X-Mini system, this won’t be going anywhere except in your laptop bag.

Bose VideoWave

Bose VideoWave

Bose VideoWave is poised to do for television what the speaker manufacturer has long done for audio. Featuring the speakers for which Bose is known, built in and invisible from detection, there is nothing invisible about the 1080p HD display nor inaudible about the home theater sound for which the company has long been known.

Bose VideoWave does a pretty good job positioning itself as an alternative to the current slate of flat-panel HDTV’s on the market. It goes beyond being “just a television” and strives for the full home theater experience in television form. Like any good seller, the company has nothing to hide either. The display, which goes exclusively to Bose stores on October 14, 2010, is featured prominently on the Bose website in a video presentation that shows layer-by-layer how the screen is constructed and what it looks like in action. 46 inches, kiddies, all for the low, low cost of $5,300!? Mother of crap. I want one!

Libratone Beat (Speaker)

Libratone Beat (Speaker)

If you’re looking for a wireless speaker, this may be it. Just plug the transmitter into your iPod, PC, or other device of your choosing, and listen as the Libratone Beat brings 360° sound to your ears. Equipped with ribbon-based tweeters and digital signal processing technologies, Libratone claims that unlike other wireless speakers, sound quality is not sacrificed.

The features come wrapped up into a stylish Scandinavian design that “makes it blend in and stand out at the same time.” Available in four colors: blood orange, vanilla beige, slate grey, and blueberry black. Perfection for the bedroom or the patio.

Edifier Aurora 2.1 Speakers

Edifier Aurora 2.1 Speakers

Portable speaker systems tend to be bulky, boxy and tinny wastes of money. The sound is always sub-par and on occasion, “portable” is a term used loosely.

The Edifier Aurora 2.1 portable speakers aim to change those perceptions with their radically different design and variety of available colors. Think “original iMacs meet the flashlight”.

The Aurora speakers consist of a 2″ magnetically sealed subwoofer and two golfball-sized satellite speakers that output 22-watts of sound into anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you’re looking for a set of speakers to complement that pink iPod Nano you just bought, look no further than the Edifier Aurora 2.1 travel speakers.

Denon DP-A100 Turntable

Denon DP-A100 Turntable

Denon is celebrating its 100th birthday and as its gift to you, it’s releasing the DP-A100 Turntable. A throwback to its vinyl roots, the record player features Denon’s direct-drive technology, 100th anniversary emblems all over the place and a slightly steampunk-ish needle arm.

For the hipster who has everything (but doesn’t have the money to buy one of these himself because he’s a starving artist in Brooklyn), there’s the DP-A100 turntable. Happy anniversary to audiophiles!

It’s free, and we’ll keep you up-to-date with all of the cool stuff we find! Cars, clothes, video games, movies, gadgets, you name it!
