Lytro | Light Field Camera

By Jason Bacchetta on October 20, 2011

In the market for a new camera? The new Lytro will amaze you, seriously.

Using light field technology, the Lytro captures the entire light field, unlike your Nikon that only captures a single plane of light. In simple terms, that means you’ll be able to focus and re-focus the photo, after you’ve taken it… again, after you’ve taken it. And since you’ll be able to focus after the fact, there’s no need for an auto-focus motor. In other words, no shutter delay, so you’ll be able to capture a moment instantly and not when the camera’s ready.

They claim it’s science. We believe it’s magic.
