“Devil’s Cut” Bourbon Whiskey: The very phrase seems to exude the essence of gentlemanly masculinity, maybe even a bit of outlaw.
Devil’s Cut bourbon, from the breweries of legendary Jim Beam, isn’t your everyday bourbon whiskey. It’s “unleashed from deep inside the barrel wood” and boasts full-bodied flavors of vigorous (we’re thinking more like ‘supremely stout’) oak and vanilla with a finish of of sweetness. According to Jim Beam, the portion of bourbon that evaporates whilst being aged for x-long is dubbed the ‘Angel’s Share’ (get it? Evaporate=rise and angels…well, you get it). So, guess what the remaining liquor that clings to the wood and even resides inside it is called? ‘Devil’s Share’.
Once said Devil’s Share is extracted using a “proprietary” method (likely some kind of barrel sweating), its blended with an intestine-cleansing, sinus obliterating, 90-proof aged Jim Beam bourbon.
