From classics like the 1940 film version of John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath to 2009′s bloated 3D mess Avatar, Fox 75th Anniversary Collection is a celebration of all things awesome and some things not so much. For around $5 per movie, though, it’s hard to not add this movie monolith to your film collection. It would take quite a long time to tell you all 75 of the films presented in this collection. Nevertheless, there are a ton of man-centric offerings that should keep your testosterone levels high throughout the collection. Movies such as Star Wars, Alien, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Patton, The French Connection, and Last of the Mohicans are among the standouts. But again, there are 75 movies here, folks. You’re going to rediscover some forgotten classics and grow to love movies you never knew existed if you pick this thing up for the holidays. Of course, you could just go down the list and make sure they’re not on Netflix Instant first; but if you did that, you wouldn’t get the nifty slipcase and hardcover book that details the making of some of the collection’s most famous films.
