40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

By Aric Mitchell on December 20, 2012

Old Pulteney 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a cut above anything you’ll see at your local liquor store, in part because it is one of the older single malts on the market, thus it has had the proper length of time to mature inside of American oak ex-bourbon and Spanish ex-sherry casks.

The bottle is blue but the sweet and spicy concoction on the inside glows with a rich amber mixed with reddish tones that deliver hints of pears and toffee. The distinguished whisky taster may also pick up on oranges and green apples as the inherent fruitiness mixes with butterscotch and sherry notes for a finish that’ll stay with you long after the initial taste has gone down.

Customers in the U.K. and Europe will have quickest access to this Scottish creation, but the company is not opposed to international shipping, so it’s something to think about, My Fellow Americans, as we head into the New Year.
